Youth Influencer Leading Peace Corridors along Cattle Routes

"For years, youth like me were drawn into inter-communal cattle raids because we saw no other future. Peace sports and early warning networks opened our eyes to cooperation."
Growing up in Greater Pibor, Daniel Lokoley saw seasonal cattle migration turn violent every dry season as pastoralists searched for grazing pasture and water.
In 2024, Exodus Foundation International organized an inter-community youth peace sports tournament and dialogue retreat bringing together youth leaders from Murle, Lou Nuer, and Dinka communities.
During the retreat, Daniel met youth from neighboring counties facing the exact same struggles. "We realized we were fighting over water points that could easily be shared if we talked to each other," Daniel reflected.
Daniel co-founded the Pibor Peace Corridor Committee. Supported by Exodus Foundation, his team monitors cattle transit routes, sends early warning text alerts during misunderstandings, and maintains shared solar water troughs.
Since the committee’s formation, seasonal clashes along the Pibor river transit route have dropped by over 80%.
